This week we are continuing the test development project by including information on how you plan to construct your test. Additionally, you should discuss how you will establish reliability and validity for your test. Your responses this week will build on your assignment from week 2 – this assignment will include the previous content as well as the questions below. Be sure to include any feedback provided by your instructor to improve your paper.

Test Construction:

  • What is the test format?
  • What types of test responses are included in your test?
  • How will you develop the items?
  • How will the test be scored?
  • What are the administration procedures for the test?
  • Are there special training requirements for test-users? Consider relevant ethical issues.
  • How will the test be standardized?

Test Content:

  • Include 5-7 items for your test. Be creative!
  • Explain how you developed these items and what considerations a test-developer must take when developing test items. Remember to consider cultural factors that may play a role.

Scope of Test:

  • What will the results of your test tell users about the test-taker?
  • What is the potential benefit of your test? What is the potential harm? Consider relevant ethical issues.
  • How will your test be interpreted?
  • How will you give meaning to the test scores?

Reliability:

  • How will you establish reliability for your test? Be specific in this response and include your reasoning for your decision.

Validity:

  • How will you establish validity for your test? Discuss various types of validity as appropriate to your test. Be specific in your response and include your reasoning for your decision.

Be sure to respond to each question completely and provide your reasoning to demonstrate you understand the material. At the same time, be concise – about 5 pages should be sufficient to address these questions. Be sure to appropriately give credit to your sources (e.g., APA style citations and references).

How has your construct been tested in the past? Include a focused review of the literature in this area, including information on various specific measures. Is there a need for your test? That is, how will your test better society? How will your test be better or not better than previous tests? Be thorough and specific in your discussion and include outside scholarly sources.

Conceptualization

What is the content of your test? Why should it cover this content? To what extent is this content culture-specific? Who are the proposed test-users? What settings will the test be used in? Who are the proposed test-takers?

Test Construction

What is the test format? What types of test responses are included in your test? How will you develop the items? How will the test be scored? What are the administration procedures for the test? Are there special training requirements for test-users? How will the test be standardized?
