This assignment will allow the student to use critical thinking in diagnostic reasoning and clinical judgment as well as consider the life cycle and cultural factors.
For each of the case studies, complete the following:
Identify the subjective and objective data, and at least one nursing diagnosis.
Include wellness, health promotion, and disease prevention activities.
Also discuss developmental, socioeconomic, and cross-cultural considerations for each situation.
Case Studies
P. D. is brought to the emergency department complaining of a sore shoulder. He states that he was forced off the road while riding his motorcycle and sideswiped a telephone pole. He did not lose consciousness. A urine specimen reveals gross hematuria. P. D. also states that a tape player in the right pocket of a leather jacket is shattered.
A family of two adults, mother age 33 years and father age 29 years, and two children, ages 6 months and 3 years come to the local health clinic. The adults state that they have recently relocated to this area and are interested in finding a health care provider. When asked, the mother says there are no known health problems. During the interview with the parents, you note the 3-year-old playing with a puzzle. |
